HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — Authorities are trying to determine what caused a massive fire in a historic Orange County neighborhood.
The fire destroyed the old textile mill in Hillsborough Friday.
Firefighters will work through Saturday to control any hot spots.
It will take days before they can get inside and investigate the cause.
Firefighters estimate the fire destroyed 30,000 square feet of the plant.
While the cause is under investigation, crews said the building is known for vandalism and thieves stealing metal and copper.
The fire marshal said the building was set to be developed into apartment homes.
The NC State Bureau of Investigation is helping investigate the cause.
