Fire breaks out at wood mill in Albemarle, according to reports

ALBEMARLE, N.C. — A fire broke out Thursday night at A&H Millwork in Albemarle, the Stanly News & Press reported.

A crew from the Stanly County newspaper arrived to see several fire and emergency crews on the scene and flames coming from the roof of the business along Highway 52 near Highway 24/27.

The mill houses large amounts of wood.

The chopper from the NC Forestry Department is getting water from City Lake and dumping it on the fire that started last night behind AL Lowder.

The following day, N.C. Forestry used a helicopter to dump water onto the smoldering fire.

Information on injuries and the cause of the fire have not been released.
