CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — Investigators think a fire that tore through the Goodwill store on South Boulevard was intentionally set.
The Charlotte Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire at the store around 10 p.m. Thursday.
A release on Goodwill's website said it appears someone broke into the store and then set the fire, which caused about $500,000 in damage. All the merchandise in the store was destroyed.
“It's very disappointing,” said Holly Cooper with Goodwill. “It's disappointing to the community, (to the) people that come here and rely on this particular location to shop.”
No one was injured in the fire.
Goodwill's release said the South Boulevard store will be closed until further notice. Employees will be reassigned temporarily to other area locations, officials said.
No arrests have been made.
