CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A fiberglass plant in Chester County is slated to close in the coming months and will eliminate 145 jobs, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed in South Carolina.
Electric Glass Fiber America, a subsidiary of Japan-based Nippon Electric Glass, will shutter the plant located to the east of Chester. The plant has been open for 23 years.
The company will begin laying off employees on Feb. 14, writes Brian McIlwain, director of human resources for Electric Glass Fiber, in the WARN letter.
