FEMA extends deadline to apply for Helene assistance

CHARLOTTE — The Federal Emergency Management Agency is extending the deadline to apply for Helene assistance in North Carolina.

The new deadline is Feb. 6.

Homeowners and renters in impacted counties are eligible for financial help.

Anyone who needs help applying can visit a disaster recovery center.

Right now, centers are open in Morganton, Newland, Jefferson, Boone, and Lenoir.
