CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Federal investigators have zeroed in on the source behind a growing list of food that could make you sick.
Channel Nine has been reporting new recalls nearly every day, but investigators believe they have pin-pointed the problem.
Investigators say they have determined all of the recalled foods have something in common.
They contain whey.
The powder is produced at a Wisconsin plant that is contaminated with salmonella.
It is used in all kinds of foods and is sold directly to manufacturers.
So far, whey powder has prompted recalls for a variety of popular foods such as four kinds of Goldfish crackers, certain Ritz Cracker products, Swiss Rolls, bread, Honey Smacks cereal, and certain Hungry Man frozen dinners.
