Teen suspected of killing ex-girlfriend added to FBI '10 Most Wanted' list

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The FBI announced Tuesday the addition of Alejandro "Alex" Castillo, 18, to its Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list Tuesday.

It is the first time someone from Charlotte has been on the list.

The FBI and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are asking for help in locating Castillo whom investigators allege is responsible for the 2016 murder of his former girlfriend, 23-year-old Truc Quan "Sandy" Ly Le.

"The ten most wanted fugitive list shines a spotlight on this case," said FBI Special Agent in Charge John Strong.

Castillo should be considered armed and extremely dangerous, police said.

The search for Castillo has been going on for more than a year, and during Tuesday's press conference, Mecklenburg County District Attorney Andrew Hurray said Le's family deserved peace and closure.

"We're not angry at Alex anymore," said Le's uncle, Bobby Le. "We just want closure. She (Sandy) was a trusting person. That was the problem -- she trusted Alex."

Le disappeared from her home in August of 2016 and her body was found about a week later. Shortly after, Castillo and his girlfriend, Ahmia Feaster, turned up in Phoenix, Arizona. Feaster is also a suspect in connection with the murder case.

The FBI said Castillo was last seen in the Mexican state of Agua Calientes, and released video of him and Feaster crossing the border into Mexico last year.

Feaster turned herself in and is back in Charlotte charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder and larceny of motor vehicle.

The FBI said they believe Castillo is still in Mexico and they are pushing hard to find him.

Castillo is from Charlotte but police said he also has family ties to Phoenix. He is wanted on state and federal warrants.

“The addition of Alex Castillo to the 10 most wanted fugitive list marks a major step forward in this investigation and highlights the urgency in locating and apprehending this dangerous fugitive,” Strong said.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading directly to his arrest.

The FBI said they have been successful in finding the vast majority of fugitives who have been on their most wanted list and they fully expect they will find Castillo as well.
