CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person died in a car crash on Interstate 85 Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
The single-car crash has shut down three lanes on I-85 southbound at Sugar Creek Road.
Michael Anthony Thompson, 19, of Charlotte was speeding when he hit a commercial vehicle and lost control, troopers said.
Thompson died in the wreck.
Investigators don't believe the truck driver knew he had been struck and kept traveling
Two other people have life-threatening injuries, officials said.
The road reopened around 3 p.m. with residual delays seen in the area.
