Fans to pack Bank of America Stadium for first home game of preseason

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — There is a lot of excitement building in Charlotte ahead of the Panthers’ first home game of the preseason Friday night.

The Panthers will take on the Miami Dolphins at Bank of America Stadium at 7:30 p.m.

In a matter of hours, the stadium will be packed with fans wearing their Panthers logo with pride, but so far, that logo isn't on display at midfield, creating a lot of buzz and debate.

Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over the stadium on Thursday and could see crews getting ready for the big day. They were painting the hashmarks and the yard line markers but there was still no logo at midfield.

New team owner David Tepper has indicated he wants to put a Panthers logo at midfield instead of the NFL shield that has been there in past seasons.

The team has been teasing it on social media with a "logo challenge," and by painting the logo on some of the player's front yards.

This week, head coach Ron Rivera said he heard there may be a big reveal before the first regular season game, so fans may have to wait a few weeks longer.
