CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The week golf lovers in Charlotte have been waiting on for years is finally here.

"We got tickets day one and we've been so looking forward to this," Bill Baltzer said.

Though events for the 2017 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow don't start until Monday, fans can buy their tournament gear starting this weekend.

The fan shop will be open to the public starting Saturday and you do not need tickets to check it out.

The store will be open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.

The Wanamaker Trophy will be available for pictures at certain times during the weekend as well.

Visitors started pouring into the fan around 10 a.m. Saturday, stocking up on gear for this week’s historic event.

Channel 9 saw a lot of activity at the Quail Hollow Club throughout the morning, with workers driving around with flowers and plants and signs and putting up lights and tents -- all part of the final touches before the players tee off.

The tournament is expected to generate $100 million for the state’s economy.

Since there will be no on-site parking at the Quail Hollow Club for this weekend’s grand opening, fans can park at Charlotte Catholic High School and take a shuttle over.

Fans are excited to see the world’s greatest golfers at a major event in Charlotte.

"It’s just going to give us brand awareness around the world, and just the dollars it's bringing into the city, is just amazing," Baltzer said.

Until doors officially open on Monday, thousands of employees and volunteers will be working around the clock to perfect the grounds.

“We're glad to have this in Charlotte,” Donna Littlejohn said. “It's a great deal for Charlotte. It's a big, big event for Charlotte."
