Family wants more information after man killed by car in west Charlotte

CHARLOTTE — Family members want answers after a man was hit by a car and died on Oct. 24.

Cody Killian, 27, was laying on Queen City Drive in west Charlotte when he was killed in the collision, police said.

“We’re still in shock,” said Pam Killian, his mother. “We’re still confused. We’re even a little angry. All the things that come with grief.”

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 24.

Cody Killian’s family said a friend took him to a bar a few hours earlier that night.

Family members said they don’t know how he ended up on the road and thinks it could be more than an accident.

“I know he was not in that area alone,” said Chrissy Strickland, his sister. “People were there, saw him, saw his actions, know his demeanor, what was he acting like was he feeling.”

Pam Killian said her son was not in distress or impaired before the incident.

“He was in good spirits,” she said. “He had made some plans to do some things the next day.”

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said Cody Killian may have been under the influence.

“This case is still an active investigation, and the toxicology reports are still pending,” CMPD said in a statement. “The case is currently being investigated as a traffic fatality and not a homicide. If detectives determine that foul play is suspected, we will provide an additional update.”
