J Iverson Riddle Developmental Center was investigated and eight employees were fired after officials received reports of misconduct.
State officials told Channel 9 that J Iverson Riddle employees reported the unprofessional conduct by their co-workers.
Reporter Dave Faherty spoke with the sister of the injured resident and she’s still upset no one has taken responsibility for what happened to her brother.
Carolyn Johnson showed Faherty a photo of her older brother taken earlier this year at his birthday party.

She said he has been at J Iverson Riddle for more than 40 years because of his severe disabilities.
When she visited this summer and last month, she noticed he had several injuries.
"His teeth were loose, and he had a gash. Then they told us they were doing an investigation on the center," said Johnson.

Johnson told Channel 9 that her brother lived in the same cottage where eight employees were recently fired, but she said she and her family have yet to be contacted by the institution about what led to those dismissals and whether it involved her brother's injuries.
The Department of Health and Human Services released the below statement:
"Our highest priority is the safety and well-being of those we serve. Management conducted an investigation into these allegations that showed no residents sustained injuries; however, the conduct was unacceptable and in accordance with state policy warranted disciplinary action."
Channel 9 also learned two other employees at J Iverson Riddle have been transferred to other roles.
Johnson and her family are hoping for answers in the case. They want to make sure her brother and other residents are safe.
Channel 9 reached out to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, Morganton Public Safety and the State Bureau of Investigation. At this point, we know of no criminal investigation involving J Iverson Riddle.
