CHARLOTTE — Family members say they feel at peace after an arrest has been made in connection with the death of Christopher Saneth Rosa Castellanos.
Happy and honest were the two words they used to describe the 25-year-old.
Channel 9′s news partners, Telemundo Charlotte, spoke with Castellanos’ uncle, who shared that he had been working a construction job in the Charlotte area before his death.
He said Castellanos was originally from Honduras and was sending money home to his mother, who is battling colon cancer.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Castellanos was killed Monday morning at an apartment complex on Archdale Drive.
New court documents revealed Castellanos and his cousin witnessed two people breaking into his car. It said Castellanos had a rifle on him, and his cousin detained one of the suspects.
When Castellanos went over to help his cousin, that suspect pulled a gun and shot him multiple times.
Police would eventually go on to arrest two males in connection with this case: 17-year-old Elliot Adams and 18-year-old Dagoberto Zelaya. Both have been charged with murder.
Family members shared that Castellanos’ mother wants to have her son’s body brought back to Honduras.
They created a GoFundMe to try and make that happen.
