Family member beaten to death by suspect in north Charlotte, police say

CHARLOTTE — Police say a 65-year-old man died after being assaulted by a family member early Sunday morning in north Charlotte.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said Tuesday that 29-year-old Daniel Sansone was arrested and charged with murder for the incident.

According to CMPD, officers were called to a home on Arbor Crest Court around 1 a.m. Sunday and found the victim who had been assaulted. MEDIC took the victim to the hospital, and CMPD said he died from his injuries on Monday.

The victim was identified as Edward Sansone Jr.

Police didn’t say how the suspect and victim were related, but a police report says they’re family members. It’s not clear what led to the alleged assault.

Daniel Sansone was booked into the Mecklenburg County jail. He’s being held with no bond for the murder charge.

CMPD didn’t release any more details about the case.
