MOUNT HOLLY, N.C. — The South Fork River rose so fast Friday morning it caught a lot of families off guard.

Channel 9′s Ken Lemmon spoke to residents, who had to pick up and leave their homes along the river due to flooding.

“I didn’t take anything. I just thought maybe it would reside, but the rain kept coming and coming," said Rock Hill teacher, Katrina Harris.

Harris said a neighbor called her and said the water was above the windows of her home.
