CHARLOTTE — The clock is ticking if you want to book a holiday flight before prices soar.
Experts predict this could be the most expensive holiday travel season in years.
Flights over Thanksgiving are currently averaging $281 round-trip, which is 25% more than last year.
Round trip tickets during Christmas are on average $434, which is 55% more than last year.
“We’re going to see about 5,000 less flights scheduled per day headed into Thanksgiving and Christmas,” said Hayley Berg, an economist with travel website Hopper. “Both of these factors are going to mean there are fewer flights available to book higher prices for each of those flights.”
