CHARLESTON, S.C. — Former Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson is donating $5 million to the International African-American Museum in Charleston.

That makes it the largest donation from a private person to the museum.

Museum officials said the money will go toward a permanent endowment, construction and its education program.

The museum is set to open in 2020.
