CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Thousands of people face evictions every year in Mecklenburg County.
Some people win the battle, but many will carry a black mark on their rental record for years, which makes finding their next home nearly impossible.

One Charlotte mother told Channel 9 that keeping a roof over her family's head has been a difficult fight after a landlord filed for eviction against her last year.
"I've been looking since last year," she said. "We've probably been denied four to five times."
