CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The county is not recommending cancelling events and to this point, Spectrum Center said everything is continuing as scheduled with some added extra cleaning.
“The health and safety of our fans, players and employees is our top priority. We take matters of public health very seriously, and we are closely monitoring this ever-evolving situation.”
Officials said all scheduled events at Spectrum Center such as Hornets games and concerts will continue as planned, but they are in constant communication with local health officials, government agencies and the NBA.
While the Spectrum Center has health and safety protocols in place throughout the year, officials said they have added new procedures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
They have added additional cleaning crews during events at Spectrum Center to focus on cleaning and sanitizing throughout the building, especially high-traffic and high-touch areas.

Officials said they have been using the CDC recommended cleaning methods throughout the area, all restrooms have anti-bacterial soap and hand sanitizer can be found throughout the building.
The Spectrum Center is working closely with the Mecklenburg County Public Health Department and the CDC. Every guest who attends an event at the Spectrum Center is advised to follow daily illness prevention recommendations.
- Washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after using the restroom, before eating and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing
- If soap and water is not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing; dispose of tissue in the trash and wash your hands
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick
- Stay home when you are sick
Officials said if anyone is feeling sick, no matter what symptoms you are showing, you should not attend public events.
