“Because we need more time to complete administrative procedures, VinFast’s EV factory project in North Carolina is expected to start production from 2025,” said a company spokesperson.
When announcing plans for a huge assembly plant at the Triangle Innovation Point megasite in Chatham in March 2022, the company said the goal was to open its North Carolina factory in July 2024 — a rapid timeline that raised eyebrows at the time given the company’s relatively unproven status and the fact that this would be its first plant in the U.S.
