CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The NewDominion Bank brand is gone, visibly closing the chapter on what was one of the Charlotte area’s few community banks.

Crews switched out old signage this week at the bank’s Metropolitan location in Charlotte. The new sign reflects a refreshed Park National brand.

Newark, Ohio-based Park National Corp. acquired the former NewDominion Bank in a $76.4 million deal in 2018. Systems conversions happened later that year.

Internal sign changes happened in late June, said Blaine Jackson, Charlotte division president for Park National.

Park National had 12 subsidiaries, including NewDominion, operating under different names. It initially allowed the acquired banks to keep their original brands. The strategy became confusing, Jackson said, especially in Ohio where there are multiple Park National affiliates and some in overlapping markets.

The bank said the benefits of keeping the individual names were outweighed by a need for consistency.
