GASTONIA, N.C. — Police are investigating after a man pulled into a Gastonia mall parking lot after being shot Wednesday afternoon.
The incident happened in the parking lot of Eastridge Mall on New Hope Road around 1:30 p.m.
Police told Channel 9 a man was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Investigators said the victim was shot somewhere on Interstate 85 or New Hope Road and drove to the parking lot for help.
Officials believe the shooting might be a possible case of road rage.
Channel 9's Briana Harper spoke with a shopper who said violence in Gastonia isn't anything new.
"It's not that surprising that this would happen," said shopper Justin Holland.
No names have been released at this point.
