MATTHEWS, N.C. — A woman was killed Friday morning in Matthews after being struck by a vehicle, police said.

It happened about 9 a.m. in the 300 block of North Trade Street.
Fanny Dolores Bunn, 81, died at the scene, Matthews police said.
“We encourage all drivers to please be extra cautious and aware of pedestrians as we are experiencing more pedestrian traffic in our growing community, especially in the downtown area,” Matthews police said in a news release.

The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed at this time.
