ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. — An elderly woman was killed and two children were seriously injured Monday night after a dog attack in Robeson County, according to our affiliate WPDE.
The attack happened Monday night on Olivet Church Road in Marietta.

Sheriff Burnis Wilkins told WPDE investigators found the woman dead and two children badly injured nearby.
Officials said deputies shot four rottweilers after the dogs attacked deputies attempting to render aid to the victims.
The dogs were initially believed to be pitbulls, but later identified the dogs as rottweilers.
Authorities said the Robeson County Animal Control was called to the scene and the State Bureau of Investigations was called as well since deputies fired shots during the incident.

Emergency personnel said the injured children were airlifted to a local hospital for treatment.
