Lockdown at east Charlotte elementary school lifted, CMS confirms

CHARLOTTE — A lockdown at an east Charlotte elementary school Thursday morning has been lifted, officials confirmed to Channel 9.

At about 11:30 a.m. Thursday, a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools spokesperson said Winterfield Elementary School was on lockdown.

A suspect threatened someone at the school with bodily injury. The victim is an employee at Winterfield Elementary School. The suspect was taken into custody and served with an involuntary commitment order.
