CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An early morning fire caused extensive damage to a Dilworth Animal Hospital in Charlotte Friday.
Fire crews rushed to the scene around 3 a.m. on East Boulevard near Lennox Avenue.
“It’s a big shame. My parents had always had great things to say about Dr. Matthews the one that owns this place," said William Knauth, who lives near the hospital.
The Charlotte Fire Department told Channel 9 no animals were hurt in the fire. Crews worked to board up the hospital just before 5 p.m. Friday.
Authorities estimated the property damage to be around $300,000.
“I hope the business is able to recover," said Knauth.
