UNION COUNTY, N.C. — The Highway Patrol was investigating a crash early Friday in Union County that involved at least three vehicles, including a tractor-trailer.
The wreck happened just before 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 601 and Highway 218, troopers said.
Officials said two people were taken to Atrium Health in Charlotte with injuries.
Channel 9 crews could see a tractor-trailer off on the side of the road, and two heavily damaged pickup trucks.

Investigators said the white pickup truck was in the left turn lane and decided to go straight. The truck was then hit by a tractor-trailer which set off a chain reaction of crashes.
Officials said the intersection is closed while they investigate.
No other details have been released.
