CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Duke Energy Corp. will be relocating its current headquarters in uptown Charlotte to a nearby 40-story building under construction.

The Charlotte-based utility company said Monday that Duke Energy Plaza, the new name of the building underway at 525 S. Tryon St., will become the company’s headquarters starting in 2023. Associated with that move, the company will exit its current headquarters — Duke Energy Center, at 550 S. Tryon St. — as well as, eventually, Piedmont Town Center in SouthPark.
