CHARLOTTE — Duke Energy Carolinas customers, which include Charlotte, Durham, and the Triad, will see a 6.2% rate decrease on Wednesday due to falling fuel prices, the energy company stated Tuesday in a news release.
A typical residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours a month will see an overall decrease of $8.96 from what they are paying now.
An average money bill of about $144 will drop to about $135.
That is 22% below the national average of $174.21, Duke Energy said.
Commercial customers will see an average decrease in their bills of about 11.5%, and industrial customers will see an average decrease of less than 1%.
