LAKE WYLIE, S.C. — Drought conditions have closed a popular swimming area in Lake Wylie.
Duke Energy said Lake Wylie is a foot and half below normal levels. It has been seven years since the last recorded drought this serious.
With the hot summer heat and a dry fall approaching, it could last awhile.
Officials told Channel 9 on Wednesday that Ebenezer Park’s swimming area will be closed for the 2015 season.

The boat ramp is still open, but is being monitored by staff at Ebenezer Park and Duke Energy.
Duke Energy said this is the result of drought conditions that began in June.
The depth of water at the end of the ramps on Tuesday was just 4 feet. Duke Energy told staff at the park that it recommends closing the ramps if the water depth reaches 3 feet.
Fishermen make up 60 percent of the business at Pendleton's boat and Tackle.
It is close to Allison Creek. They wonder how much these ramps will affect their business.
