CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have released 911 calls after a man was shot while driving his car on Interstate 77 Thursday night and another person had his back window shot into.
A man inside a Mercedez Benz was shot along I-77 after an argument, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.
The dispute started in South Carolina and both the victim and the shooter got onto I-77 in separate cars, according to investigators. The shooting happened somewhere between Carowinds Boulevard and Nations Ford Road on I-77.
Authorities told Channel 9 the man who was shot pulled off the interstate at Nations Ford Road and into a gas station parking lot, where police responded.
In the 911 calls, a man can be heard saying "Somebody just shot me up! I got hit on my leg."
The man who had his car window shot out also called 911. He can be heard saying, "There was some guy who, I don't even know, like uh, he was tailgating me, then he came beside me and he started shooting."
Channel 9 crews could see crime scene technicians around the vehicle, placing evidence markers and taking photographs. Several windows were shot out.
Several people were in the car, but nobody else was hurt, police said.
The man who was shot is expected to be OK.
No arrests have been made.
