CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating a hit-and-run after someone crashed into a north Charlotte 7-Eleven Sunday night and drove away.
The wreck happened around 10 p.m. at the store on Old Statesville Road and W.T. Harris Boulevard.
Officers said after the crash, the driver, described as a teenager, backed the car out of the store and fled from the scene.
The store manager said the damaged vehicle had trouble leaving the parking lot, so he ran outside to try and write down the license plate. The car was described as a purple or burgundy sedan.
The 7-Eleven’s front doors could be seen smashed in, with windows shattered. Police said no one was hurt in the crash.
“Within a couple of seconds, somebody could have gotten hurt,” employee Keiston Davis said. “They were leaving out, and somebody had just came in.”
No arrests have been made and police only said the driver and his passenger were teenagers.
