CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man is in the hospital after police said he crashed into a tree while being chased by police in south Charlotte early Tuesday.
According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, that man tried to rob somebody just before 5 a.m. The victim in that crime called 911 and was talking to officers when police spotted the suspect’s vehicle and tried to pull it over.

The driver refused to stop, though, and led police on a pursuit, according to CMPD.
The chase started on John J. Delany Drive and ended about five minutes later on Bevington Place, when the suspect crashed into a tree.
The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital by MEDIC. His name has not been released and police have not yet said what charges he will be facing.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash and police are not looking for any other suspects.
