IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities are investigating a deadly crash Wednesday morning along Interstate 40 in Iredell County.
The crash happened around 7 a.m. near the Old Mountain Road exit in the eastbound lanes.
Traffic was backed up for miles near the exit after investigators said a driver struck a guardrail and their car overturned.

That driver, who officials said was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene.
For two hours, only one of the eastbound lanes of I-40 was open as troopers investigated.
The driver’s name has not yet been released.
