Channel 9′s Anthony Kustura spoke to Darby’s mother, Roxie Darby, who said her son lived just two blocks away from where the crash happened.
“I feel hurt, I feel shock, I feel like it’s not real at all,” she said.
Roxie Darby said her son had always loved cars and bikes. She said it started with a red one when he was little.
She said she’s reminded of him thanks to his passion projects, like a bike he tried to fix up. She was brought to tears when she saw the sweet messages left behind at the crash site.
“I knew how great he was, but I didn’t know other people knew how great he was,” she said.
Police said Crosby is accused of driving while impaired, although the department said her blood work won’t come back for a few days to confirm.
She was given bail set at $100,000 and has since been released from jail.
“I just want to hear his sound, and his smile and his laugh,” Roxie Darby said.
The Darby family is planning a memorial for Keveon Darby in the next few days. Currently, they’re trying to raise enough money to cover his funeral costs.
