CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — Deputies said they are looking for a woman who shot her son-in-law Monday afternoon in the parking lot of a Chesterfield County elementary school.
The shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. at Edwards Elementary School on West Boulevard off Highway 9 in Chesterfield.

Deputies said 54-year-old Jacqueline Peurifoy shot her son-in-law in the hip in the school’s parking lot. It’s unclear what led to the shooting.
After the shooting, deputies said the victim went inside the school to wait for the ambulance and Peurifoy drove off in a black Kia Sportage.
The school was immediately placed on lockdown. Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over the scene and could see students being escorted out of the building as deputies investigated.

Channel 9 learned there were no students in the parking lot at the time of the shooting.
“Kids are safe here. They were safe today. At no point, and I want to stress at no point, were any children or staff at this school in danger today,” Chesterfield Police Chief Eric Hewett said.
No other injuries were reported.
