Dog found on roof of Myrtle Beach hotel, police say

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — A dog was found on the roof of a Myrtle Beach hotel Monday night, police said, WPDE reported.

A hotel employee was seen on a ladder at the Compass Cove hotel, helping to get the small black dog down when police got to the scene.

The employee said the dog had been outside for two or three hours and was unsure where it came from.

The dog’s owner, Keish Buchanan, said she left the dog on the patio when she went to Walmart, authorities said. Buchanan said when she came back, the dog was gone, but she didn’t try to look for it.

Officials said another dog was found in the room. The owner said it was an emotional support animal.

Police said the dog was surrendered to them for neglect, being malnourished, underweight and without food and shelter.

Buchanan was cited for animal neglect and was advised on a court date, officials said.

Authorities said animal control will do a follow up on the other dog that was in the hotel room.
