ORLANDO, Fla. — Days after an alligator dragged a 2-year-old boy into a lake at a Disney World resort, the company has decided to place alligator warning signs around the parks, a high-level Disney source said.
Lane Graves, 2, was wading in the Seven Seas Lagoon at the Grand Floridian Resort Tuesday evening when an alligator attacked him. Graves’ father tried to fight off the reptile, but it dragged his son away.
Crews found the toddler’s body on Wednesday in about 10 to 15 feet of water near the area where he was last seen, Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said.
"No swimming" signs were posted around the lake, but there were no alligator warnings.
Demings said there have not been any alligator-related deaths in Disney World's 45 years of operation.
The theme park's beaches will remain closed while crews trap alligators in the lagoon.
