CHARLOTTE — IMAX movies are back at Discovery Place Science.
The museum recently announced that its IMAX dome theater will reopen on Feb. 11 after extensive renovations.
A new film projection system with IMAX’s next-generation laser technology designed specifically for IMAX dome theaters has been installed. Additional upgrades include new seats, carpet, speaker system and air filtration.

The theater, which has been closed since March 2020, also got a new name as part of a multi-year investment with Accenture, a global technology firm with offices in Charlotte.
The first movie scheduled at the Accenture IMAX Dome Theatre will be “The Beatles: Get Back – The Rooftop Concert.”
The movie will be shown from Feb. 11-13 and tickets are sold out.
“Dinosaurs of Antarctica” and “Into America’s Wild” both open on Feb. 19.
