Did you return a couple's engagement ring?

CHARLOTTE, NC — Pat Colburn said it was a miracle when someone found her engagement ring.

Pat and David Colburn, will be married 52 years next month.

She has had three engagement rings since their wedding day and the one she has now is her favorite.

"I always told him I wanted a diamond that stood up," she said.

Over the weekend, Pat's ring slipped off her finger some time during the Christmas Made in the South show at the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center.

"On the way home, I happened to look down and I didn't see my diamond. I had my wedding band, but there was no diamond," said Pat.

The couple's son, who had a booth at the event, checked the lost-and-found for the ring but it wasn't there.

"In a crowd like that, I just thought, its goodbye forever," said David.

Just when the couple thought they had lost the ring forever, their son checked again later that day and the ring was there.

Pat told Channel 9, "He said the people behind the lost and found counter just couldn't believe it. That somebody would turn in a ring like that... All they said is that it was found on the sidewalk outside."

For half of their marriage, David has worked for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

His job is to thank people who have invested in the ministry and he said all he and his wife want to do now is do the same thing for the mysterious person who found their beloved ring.

"That's the one thing about this ring, we'd like to say thank you to whoever picked it up," said David.

This situation has confirmed to the couple that good people still exist.

Pat said, "This just goes to show you that there are so many good people in the world. That we never hear about the good people and the things they do. That's why I would love to know who turned it in and say thank you."
