Teen charged in deadly shooting of 19-year-old in east Charlotte, police say

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A teen has been charged with shooting a 19-year-old to death at an apartment complex in east Charlotte Friday night, police said.

Sebastian Acosta-Bayona, 19, was shot to death around 8:30 p.m. at Sharon Pointe Apartments, off of North Sharon Amity Road near East WT Harris Boulevard, officials said.

Police said they have charged Juan Alberto Lopez-Garcia, 17, with the murder of Acosta-Bayona.

Once detectives arrived, they found the victim with a gunshot wound outside of an apartment and pronounced him dead at the scene.

It’s the fourth homicide investigation in the Queen City in just over 48 hours.

This is Charlotte's 71st homicide of 2019.
