Deputies investigate deadly triple shooting in Chesterfield Co.

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — Deputies said they are investigating a triple shooting that left three people dead in Chesterfield County.

The shooting happened around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at a house on Society Hill Road, south of Cheraw.

Authorities told Channel 9's South Carolina bureau reporter Greg Suskin three people were killed, including a young child. Investigators said the shooting involved someone trying to protect their family.

Sheriff James Dixon said they do not have anyone in custody, but wanted to make the public aware there is no longer a threat in this investigation.

On Wednesday, officials identified those who died as 27-year-old Cordarius Foster, 29-year-old Hailey Brown and 3-year-old whose name was not released.

There is no word on a motive or any other details surrounding the shooting.

Channel 9's DaShawn Brown said she saw people from the community start to show up trying to figure out what happened. They said they were in shock.

"We don't usually have any trouble out of nobody or nothing like this and it's very shocking," neighbor Gale James said. "My condolences go out to the family."

The sheriff said there is still a lot of work to be done with the investigation and more information will be released when it's appropriate.
