Deputies said 3 due in court for meth charges known as 'smurfs'

WATAUGA COUNTY, N.C. — Three people are due in court in Watauga County next month on methamphetamine charges.

Deputies said Lindsey Miller, Heather Nelson and Casey Ward were known as smurfs and their job was to go from store to store buying the maximum legal amount of pseudoephedrine and supply it to methamphetamine makers.

Deputies said they busted the meth lab they were supplying last month.
