CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies are investigating a deadly shooting in Catawba County late Saturday night.
The shooting happened just after 11:30 p.m. outside a house on 20th Avenue SW in Brookford.

When deputies got to the area, they found 22-year-old Justin James Locklear dead from a gunshot wound.
Residents at the house told deputies they reported hearing noises outside around 11:30 p.m. When they tried to find the noise, they found Locklear in their yard.
According to deputies, it was reported that Locklear attacked a man who was at the house before Locklear was shot and killed.
Deputies confirmed to Channel 9 they are looking at whether or not the shooting was self-defense after a woman at the house shot Locklear.
No arrests have been made at this time.
In addition, a car that Locklear is believed to have been driving was found wrecked at the intersection of Highway 127 South and South Center Street. Officials said the crash scene is a short distance from the where the shooting happened.
No other information has been released.
