CHARLOTTE — Severe weather in the Carolinas is causing flight delays, as well as cancellations at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
According to FlightAware, 407 flights have been delayed and 51 have been cancelled as of about 3:30 p.m.
A powerful storm system moved into our area Tuesday afternoon, bringing heavy rainfall that could add up to over 3 inches.

Storms hit the area closer to 1 p.m. before moving east.
There’s also a tornado risk for the afternoon from Charlotte to the eastern part of the region.
