CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says a man has been charged with murder after a homicide near a gas station in west Charlotte.
Police responded to a gunshot wound at 3416 Freedom Drive around 5:40 p.m. on Saturday.
Mecklenburg EMS responded to the call, but medics were canceled around 5:45 p.m. The victim has been identified as Des’mon Thompson, 34.
CMPD officials have arrested Gregory Dowana, 29, for his involvement in the case. Dowana has been charged with murder and transported to the Law Enforcement Center in Uptown.
The investigation is ongoing, according to a CMPD news release. Information will be released as the investigation develops, according to CMPD officials.
