CMPD investigating after body found floating in southeast Charlotte pond

CHARLOTTE — A death investigation is underway after police said a body was found floating in a pond in southeast Charlotte on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, officers responded just before 2 p.m. to Village Lake Drive for a welfare check.

When they got there, officers spotted a body floating in a small pond. With help from the Charlotte Fire Department, the body was removed from the water. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

The investigation is ongoing and no additional details have been released.
