GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A 17-year-old died in a crash that closed several miles of U.S. 321 in Gaston County on Monday afternoon, North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.
Troopers responded to the crash near Gaston College before 12:30 p.m.
The teenage driver of a 2013 Toyota pickup truck crashed into the back of a tractor trailer, troopers said.

Walker Hayes, of Dallas, was identified by law enforcement as the victim. He died at the scene.
The driver of the tractor trailer was hurt and taken to an area hospital.
Highway 321 was closed for two-and-a-half miles between Grier Beam Boulevard and Hardin Road. It reopened after 2 p.m., troopers said.
