Bicyclist killed in hit-and-run in Salisbury

SALISBURY, N.C. — A bicyclist was hit and killed in Salisbury, prompting the road to close Friday morning.

Officials say they got a call for a person laying on the side of the road around 8 a.m. at the 3600 block of South Main Street in Salisbury.

They identified the person as Mark Edward Brotherton, age 48.

The investigation determined he was hit by a Nissan Armada who was traveling in the same direction.

All lanes of South Main Street were blocked during the investigation.

Police are looking for a 2008 to 2014 Nissan Armada, SUV style, which may have retained damage to the right headlight area.
