Motorcyclist hit, killed by driver who ran red light, CMPD says

CHARLOTTE — A woman died and a man has been charged for a deadly motorcycle crash in east Charlotte on Wednesday night, police said.

The wreck happened around 8:15 p.m. at the intersection of North Sharon Amity Road and Shamrock Drive.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said Christine Williamson Miller, 55, was on a motorcycle when the driver of a Honda Pilot Jairo Zapet Garcia, 29, failed to stop at a red light.

Garcia made a left turn from North Sharon Amity Road onto Shamrock Drive and hit Miller, CMPD said.

Police charged Garcia with misdemeanor death by vehicle, no operator’s license, and a red-light violation.
